Events for April
Event Name: Northern Indoor car show Eventcity Manchester
Date: 06/04/2013
End Date: 07/04/2013
Event Description: Our RREC Northern Section has again been invited to join in the Eventcity Indoor Classic Car Show in Manchester. The theme for this year is the 80th Anniversary of the Derby Bentley, and we hope to exhibit several examples of Northers Section members own cars. The star of our show this year, will again be Bryan Fitton’s 1920 Silver Ghost, which Bryan has generously agreed to make available for this year. This year, his Ghost has been modified with several discreet headlamps, designed to increase safety when navigating your way over the Alps, which Bryan and Ros are circumnavigating, as part of the Clubs re-enactment of the 1913 Alpine trials. In this, four Silver Ghosts proved triumphant against the Minerva and Audi in 1913. Bryan will be entering the event the proper way – he and Ros will be driving his Silver Ghost from Wilmslow to the start in St Moritz! The organisers through Cheshire Auto promotions are impressed with this story, and will be using it in their pre-show publicity. The second theme to our stand will be the 80th anniversary of the Derby Bentley in 1933, and we will be showing four examples of the Derby Bentley, including Stuart Beech’s 1939 Park Ward saloon, and Michael Bartons 1935 Gurney Nutting swept wing coupe. Moving onto the post war saloons, we will be represented by Gerry Cohen and his Silver Bentley R-type, plus, fresh from a bare metal respray – David Barrington- Bullock’s superb Silver Spur. The stand that the organisers have given us this year (as a penance for last years somewhat squished stand) is significantly larger – so we have room for at least another car, and in keeping with the anniversaries theme, are looking for a representative for the 60th anniversary of the Silver Dawn. I’m sure that our section we will find a suitable example of the marque. So please come and support us by visiting us on the stand – and as the committee are otherwise engaged over that weekend (at the AGM), we would welcome members who could give their time to be on the stand and share Northern Sections enthusiasm for our cars with the public, over the two days of the event.
